The Dicastery for the Eastern Churches has prepared a pastoral guide for the 2025 Jubilee of the Eastern Churches, to be celebrated May 12–14, to make known the richness of the Christian traditions of the Eastern world.
The Ruthenian Metropolia prescribes strict abstinence from meat and dairy products on both the First Monday (Clean Monday) of the Great Fast as well as on Good Friday, and also abstinence from meat on all Wednesdays and Fridays in the Great Fast and Holy Week. These prescriptions are a required minimum for all of the faithful. The traditional fast is much stricter.
The Ruthenian Metropolia has identified this period, November 15-December 24, as a penitential season. This fast is voluntary with Thanksgiving being dispensed according to our Metropolitan Typicon. Bishop Kurt has dispensed the Friday after Thanksgiving from the Nativity Fast as well.
